It was announced at the 26th Little League® International Congress the retirement of Little League International Board of Directors Member and former Little League President and CEO, Dr. Creighton J. Hale. The Board elected Steven P. Johnson, Williamsport, Pa., Susquehanna Health President and CEO, to assume the seat vacated by Dr. Hale’s retirement. In addition to Mr. Johnson, joining the Board are three Field Representative: Jolly Gomez, Tony Richardson, and Bob Toigo.

At the spring meeting of the Little League® International Board of Directors, Jolly Gomez, Philippines District 1 Administrator, was elected to the Board. Mr. Gomez, of Manila, Philippines, succeeds Stephen Guerrero, Guam Administrator, as the Asia-Pacific Region Representative. The announcement was made at the 26th Little League International Congress in Minneapolis, Minn., on April 7, 2014.

At the spring meeting of the Little League® International Board of Directors, Bob Toigo, Washington District 9 Administrator, was elected to the Board. Mr. Toigo, of Sammamish Wash., succeeds Marty Hoy, California District 25 Administrator, as the Western Region Representative. The announcement was made at the 26th Little League International Congress in Minneapolis, Minn., on April 7, 2014.

At the spring meeting of the Little League® International Board of Directors, Tony Richardson, New Jersey District 11 Administrator, was nominated to the Board. Mr. Richardson, of Neptune, N.J., will succeed Michael Serino, Pennsylvania District 17 Administrator, as the Eastern Region Representative. The announcement was made at the 26th Little League International Congress in Minneapolis, Minn., on April 7, 2014.

Local Little League® programs wishing to provide players with a skills assessment program are encouraged to host a Major League Baseball’s 2014 Pitch, Hit and Run competition.

Since 2005, Little League® and Pitch In For Baseball have been partners in helping children around the world get new and gently used baseball and softball equipment. Honoring this nearly 10-year friendship, Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO, presented Pitch In For Baseball with the President’s Award at the 26th Little League International Congress in Minneapolis, Minn. On hand to accept the recognition were Roy Smalley, former Minneapolis Twins player and Pitch In For Baseball Board of Directors President, and David Rhode, Pitch In For Baseball Executive Director.

Little League District Administrators are some of the most dedicated, tireless volunteers in the Little League program. At the 26th Little League International Congress, Little League recognized Maryellen Holden, Connecticut District 5 Administrator, with its highest honor, the Peter J. McGovern Distinguished Service Award. This award has been presented at the past 24 Little League International Congresses, and Mrs. Holden is first woman to receive the honor for her dedicated service.

The 26th Little League® International Congress came to a close in Minneapolis, Minn., on Monday, April 7. With ESPN’s Chris McKendry serving as the event’s emcee, Little League celebrated its 75th Anniversary with more than 1,500 volunteers, and honored significant contributions to help make Little League into the world’s largest and most prestigious youth sports organizations.
